This is my first article post election, and though I don’t typically like getting political, I feel called to address what the results mean to me and many others. I realize it’s usually best to avoid topics such as politics and religion in general, but I’m going to come at this with the intention of bringing us together, as opposed to causing further division- that is my hope at least…so here goes.
I’ve made it no secret that I voted for Kamala and I, like millions of others, thought it would be a close race and that ultimately, she would win; though it may take weeks or months for the results to be made official. Because of this, I braced myself for the inevitable fallout fueled by election falsehoods and conspiracy theories. We all know how it ended, and though it wasn’t what I’d hoped for, at least there was a peaceful transfer of power, and yes, I have many thoughts on that as well, but they don’t change what is, so I will refrain from going there.
Admittedly, when Trump ran for President in 2015 I didn’t take it or him seriously. For decades leading up to the election he had been a fixture in pop culture, appearing in shows like Sex and the City, and movies like Zoolander, and Home Alone 2, not to mention the hit series The Apprentice. Oh, and he was also a real estate mogul with questionable business strategies, but was largely viewed as successful nonetheless. Thus, the notion that he could ever be president, at least to me, was laughable; though history showed the joke was on me and anyone else who underestimated him. This is where, for my own sanity, I choose to take a highly meta approach to making peace with where things currently stand.
I’ve said before that I believe we are all connected. We are all made from a higher power, which I call Source energy. I’ve also stated that I believe with each incarnation, we experience life through each others’ varied experiences. For example, I believe we all get to know what it’s like to be poor, wealthy, powerful, impoverished, sick, well, etc.
As much as I despise Trumps’ actions, I do not despise him as a human being. I make this distinction because I feel that he is someone who has completely disconnected from his higher self. We all have a higher self, and that higher self is the embodiment of peace, love, and acceptance. His free will has taken him way off track, and when he transfers into the spirit world, he will likely have far more work to do in terms of healing and redemption than most. I wouldn’t be surprised if in his next several incarnations, he came back as a highly oppressed individual- I.E, a native American Indian, a slave, a female in Afghanistan, etc. I say this because it’s not uncommon for souls to request incarnations that put them at the receiving end of their heinous actions on Earth in order to evolve as spiritual beings. I should note, this evolution and expansion of the soul is the point of life, which is why one would ever request such challenges.
For many of us, heaven and hell represent justice. Though I don’t believe in heaven or hell, I do believe in equity in the form of redemption, healing, and growth. I also believe that in a past life I WAS Trump, or at least I personified someone similar- hence us all getting a turn to walk in each others’ shoes. My point is, if I’m going to claim we’re all one and we’re all made of the same creator, it must apply even to those whose actions I deem deplorable. Additionally, if I’m going to find harmony, I must make peace with what is, even if it’s not what I prefer.
That said, let me take a moment to call myself out. Using words like heinous and deplorable are not helping in my quest for solitude. This is merely my way of letting my stance be known, however, it’s labeling people and situations as good or bad or right or wrong that often trips us up- obviously I’m as guilty of that as anyone. The saying you can be right or you can be happy definitely applies here! We can justify our anger and our concern because our side is right and theirs is wrong. It’s true, and therefore our thoughts and actions are just. However, once you flip the switch from right or wrong and good or bad to it just is, then it becomes a matter of can I control what is, instead of the endless loop of fighting to be right.
In choosing this, you’re not giving up, or refusing to stand up for what you believe in; you just have a clearer perspective regarding what is in your power and what is ultimately futile, because right and wrong are highly subjective- but that which is tends to be more clear to our soul.
For those of us who are struggling to accept our new reality, and more broadly, the state of the world in general, I would like to propose this: We all chose to incarnate at this specific time in history. It is not an accident, nor is it a coincidence.
What our impact will be, which side of history we end up on, is a choice. My hope is that we as a collective, will consult our higher selves, tapping into that endless well of peace, love, and acceptance, when making those choices so that tranquility and oneness can be not only attainable, but shall become the embodiment of what truly is:)
